Chichester Cathedral welcomes new Honorary Canons
Bishop Martin installed three new Honorary Canons in Chichester Cathedral on Sunday 17 November, “in recognition of the contribution that they make to the apostolic life of the diocese. “
The Revd Judith Egar will take the Stall of the Prebendary of Eartham. It is an affirmation of her ministry as Rural Dean, extending the supportive role she has exercised for many years in Lewes. It also enables us to recognise her legal work for the church, both nationally and locally.
Judith is assistant Curate at Lewes St Anne and St Michael and St Thomas at Cliffe with All Saints (Benefice) She is the Rural Dean for Lewes and Seaford.
The Revd David Gillard will take the Stall of the Prebendary of Mardon. It is an affirmation of the patience and imagination with which he has sustained the mission of St Elizabeth’s bearing with uncertainty and delay. It is also recognition of the skill which he has exercised as Rural Dean.
David is the vicar of St Elisabeth’s Eastbourne and Rural Dean of Eastbourne.
The Revd David Twinley will take the Stall of the Prebendary of Ipthorne. It is an affirmation of his faithful and fruitful ministry as a parish priest and his contribution to the wider life of the Diocese both as a Rural Dean and during the vacancy in the Archdeaconry.
David is vicar of St Nicholas Arundel St Leonard’s South Stoke. He was Rural Dean of Petworth until 2016.
On Sunday 1 December, three more candidates will be installed as Honorary Canons, at 3.30pm in the context of Evensong. They are Nigel Mason, Mark Standen and Kathryn Windslow.
