Free event to find out about mental health in Mid Sussex

Local mental health organisation, Sussex Oakleaf, is celebrating its 25th anniversary and has teamed up with Mid Sussex District Council, Together in Sussex, Avtrade and Clarion Futures for a free, all day public event on 6 February 2020.

The event, which will be held in Clair Hall, Haywards Heath, is aimed at anyone who is worried about their mental health or just wants to find out what support is available to them, their friends or their family.

The venue will be open to the public from 10.30am until 7pm with a range of activities taking place throughout the day.

Light refreshments will be available from a free pop-up café which will also play host to the return of Sussex Oakleaf’s award winning art exhibition - The Big Mental Health Pop Up. Returning, following its successful launch in May 2019, the exhibition provides a platform for those affected by mental health to become involved in their community, gain confidence and challenge their own as well as other people’s perception of their potential.

A range of workshops will run throughout the day with participants able to learn about common mental health conditions and the coping skills which help to manage them. Visitors will also be able to speak to staff and volunteers from a range of local organisations and find out about the support which is available to them.

With Sussex Oakleaf celebrating it’s 25th year of supporting better mental health, the day will also give the public a chance to find out about the history of the organisation, its future plans and to share their views on how they would like to see mental health services grow.
