Helen James has been appointed to the role to support parish clergy and treasurers and will be offering advice in financial governance and good practice, as well as supporting the Generous Giving Adviser in offering help in increasing effective stewardship campaigns within the Diocese.

Helen replaces John Kemp, who retired in April, and her primary aim is to provide reliable and strong support to all churches throughout the diocese, whether city centre or countryside churches, whether staffed or relying on volunteer teams. You can read more about how Helen plans to support parishes in the upcoming September issue of Faith in Sussex.

Rob Dillingham, Deputy Director of Apostolic Life welcomed Helen and said: "Helen joins us to carry on the excellent work that John Kemp started in supporting parish treasurers and incumbents on financial and governance issues. I am excited as Helen brings a wealth of experience of managing finance from a parish perspective and look forward seeing how she will develop the high quality support we currently offer. Helen's role is part funded by the central Church of England as part of the award for generous giving."

Helen will start her role on 1st June 2021.
