Diocese of Chichester

Beginning at St Nicholas, Worth on 27th June and ending at St Peter’s, Brighton on 12th July, the bishops of Horsham and Lewes will ordain the candidates, who will be joined by family members and supporters to celebrate the beginning of their priestly ministries.

Each of the candidates was ordained as deacon last year and will continue to serve as curates in the same parishes after ordination to the priesthood.

Amongst the many things the new priests can look forward to is the celebration of the Eucharist, or Holy Communion, for the first time.

The Bishop of Horsham, Ruth Bushyager, will be ordaining priests at St Nicholas, Worth [Sun 27 June, 3pm], St Peter’s Henfield [Tue 29 June, 7pm], St Mary Magdalene, Lyminster [Wed 30 June, 7pm] and St Peter’s Brighton [Mon 12th July, 7pm].

The Bishop of Lewes, Will Hazlewood, will ordain priests at St John’s, West Worthing [Sun, 27 June, 3pm] and Bishop Hannington Church [Mon 28 June, 7pm].

Each of the newly ordained priests then usually has a service of celebration with the parishioners they are serving in the parishes in which they work.
