The ceremony took place on 11th September in Chichester Cathedral and included the annual renewal of vows for the whole Reader community.

Bishop Will said “It was so wonderful to see so many readers gather together to celebrate their own individual calls to proclaim the kingdom of God and to licence and admit six wonderfully gifted new readers.

“The celebration was made even more special by being able to be back in the cathedral for the first time since 2019.

“We have so missed being able to gather for these events and it was wonderful for me to be able to say a big ‘thank you’ on behalf of the diocese for all the varied ways Readers contribute to the whole household of faith”

The six new readers:

Andy Delves will serve at All Saints Waldron & St Barts Cross in Hand (Parish of Waldron)

Kate Wydra will serve at St George’s West Grinstead

Liz Telcs will serve at St Nicholas Saltdean

Martin Hennock will serve at St Marks Holbrook

Miriam Owen will serve at Trinity Church Lewes

Elaine Corbett will serve at Amberley with North Stoke, Parham, Wiggonholt and Greatham

You can read about the six new readers in the latest issue of Faith in Sussex on pages 38 and 39 here

Please continue to hold them and the parishes in your prayers.

If you feel you may be called by God to Reader ministry you should first discuss this with your incumbent whose support you will need to be considered as a candidate. You can read more about the process here
