Archbishop adds support to peace vigil during visit

The Archbishop took time out of his busy schedule during his visit to the Diocese to support a candlelit peace vigil being held in the town of Lewes on Saturday (5th March)

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby surprised people in Lewes, East Sussex attending a peace vigil for Ukraine when he arrived unannounced to offer his support.

The Archbishop had been attending a rural clergy event in Hartfield and was on his way to a reception in Cliffe Hall to meet with community leaders. He diverted En route to drop into the peace vigil to address the large crowd and to show solidarity and support. He also offered a prayer for peace. 'Let us be generous in giving aid, passionate about teaching peace, and continue to pray to the God of all hope and justice for the people of Ukraine," said Archbishop Justin.
