Eastbourne celebrates the true meaning of Christmas with free events for everyone
Eastbourne residents and visitors are all invited to participate in the town’s Inspiring Angels Eastbourne event this year - an ecumenical event supported by over 40 churches, businesses, and community groups
One of the highlights of Inspiring Angels Eastbourne, is an Angel Trail - The angels will be in various shapes and sizes all over the town - in schools, shops, public buildings, churches, pavements, streetlights... wherever people's imagination takes them!
Father Danny Pegg - Associate Vicar for Mission and Discipleship in the Parish of Hampden Park & The Hydneye and the Parish of Willingdon, said, “Inspiring Angels Eastbourne is going to let everyone know what is going on this December and connect people to fun, free and affordable activities - at a time when such activities and places to go could be a real help with the winter that we are facing.
“The message of the angels was one of hope and good news - we think we could all use a bit of that now!"
As well as support from the Mayor of Eastbourne, Eastbourne BID (a business improvement district) is also backing the initiative. Stephen Holt – the CEO – of Your Eastbourne BID, said he was delighted to be supporting the Inspiring Angels initiative in Eastbourne this year. “We have been involved in Christmas activities across the town since 2019 and are looking forward to once again bringing some much-needed festive cheer. I encourage all businesses to sign up and display an angel in their window.”
As well as the Trail, there will be many family events, Christmas and carols services, including the popular Civic Service in the splendid St Saviours Church, South Street, Eastbourne, with various carols and readings.
At the end of the service, a retiring collection will be held in aid of the mayor’s chosen charities - Eastbourne Mencap and Eastbourne Foodbank. There is also a Foodbank collection point within the church for food donations.
A QR code has also been introduced on all the posters in the town so people can find out about free family activities for this Christmas season.
