Announcement of New Vocations Advisers
Bishop Martin has appointed The Revd Jessica Reid (West) and The Revd Tim Bell (East) as new Vocations Advisers.
The Revd Dr Keir Shreeves, Diocesan Director of Ordinands, says: ‘As we continue to foster vocations in the diocese, it’s wonderful that Jessica and Tim are taking on these roles alongside their other commitments. Fear is often a barrier to exploring vocation. Both Jessica and Tim are good at helping people feel at ease and talk about their sense of call.’
Vocations Advisers are appointed by the Bishop to support and advise people as they explore God’s call on their lives. This can be of particular assistance when someone senses a call to some form of ordained or lay ministry. Vocations Advisers build on the foundation of vocational support in the parish.
Advisers provide a first point of contact for people who wish to explore a calling to any particular form of ordained or lay ministry. They help people to be more informed about ministry and are independent from any process of assessment or selection. Advisers prayerfully accompany people and may refer someone to the DDO or the Officer for Lay Vocation and Ministry.
The diocese has a range of vocational advisers who can assist those who may face particular barriers or come from under-represented groups. Those wanting to explore a sense of call are able to get in touch with a Vocations Adviser directly, or can be referred by an Incumbent.
