Bishop Martin thanked Trevor for his years of service leading the Education Team. He said: “Our Church schools are a vital part of our household of faith and they have been well served by Trevor in his time as Diocesan Director of Education. His experience as a head teacher has informed his leadership of the education team and been built on his deep Christian faith. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude and will miss his humour (an amazing fund of jokes) and his generosity of spirit.”

Trevor has been in the post for six years and during that time has led the Diocesan education team supporting our 155 schools through a particularly complex time, covering the pandemic and an increased focus on academisation. Trevor will remain in post until the end of August to enable a new Diocesan Director of Education (DDE) to be recruited.

Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, Archdeacon Luke said: “Trevor has brought depth of faith and wisdom to his time as DDE. His leadership has enabled the strengthening and development of the place of our schools at the heart of the mission and ministry of the Church across our household of faith.

"The respect and high regard in which he is held by colleagues in each of our schools and Academy Trusts is testament to the strong relationships and partnerships that he has encouraged and nurtured, always underpinned by the privilege of giving every child entrusted to our care the gift of a life-giving encounter with Jesus Christ. He moves on in faith, with our deep gratitude and assurance of our prayers.”

Trevor said: “It has been my joy and privilege to serve the Church of England Schools of this diocese for the past six years.

"The work of our schools and their leaders through the recent challenging times has been an inspiration, and their impact on their communities has been so significant. To be able to act in support of this has been humbling.

"This job is a demanding but exciting opportunity, and I am more than willing to discuss it with anybody considering it as their next step forward. The time is right for a new energy and direction, and the successful candidate will certainly inherit a great, supportive team to work with.“

Please pray for Trevor as he moves onto the next stage of his journey.
