Safeguarding Sunday on 17th November
Parishes and Chaplaincies across the diocese are encouraged to mark Safeguarding Sunday on 17th November.
Bishop Ruth is the diocesan bishop lead for Safeguarding. She said: "The theme and focus for this year is ‘Let’s talk about it. This is an opportunity in all our regular Sunday services to thank our Parish Safeguarding Officers and volunteers for the crucial work they do, and to raise awareness about how every member of the church has responsibility for safeguarding."
Bishop Joanne Grenfell, the Church of England’s national lead safeguarding bishop, says: “Protecting vulnerable people is at the heart of the Christian message. Safeguarding Sunday is about every person in the church knowing why we do what we do and knowing what part they can contribute to that."
You can find all the Safeguarding Sunday resources including films and animations, prayers, preaching notes, children's activity sheets, hymns, songs and a safeguarding pledge, and register to take part here.
