Kate takes up the new position following the departure of Jonathan Meyer, who served three years in the role and recently retired from ministry.

Kate, who continues in her duties as Rector of Northiam, said: “Having been a part of the Chichester Diocese for over 30 years, both as a lay person and clergy member, I'm delighted to be taking on this new role for the Rye Deanery. I've been in the deanery for almost two years now, and I'm looking forward to getting to know more people from our churches in the area over the next few months. With several parishes currently in vacancy, I hope to offer support to wardens, PCC members, and congregations as they navigate this time of change. I'm also delighted to support the Deanery and Diocese as we celebrate this special year, marking 950 years of Christian ministry and faith in Sussex."
