Youth Worker for Holy Trinity, Hurstpierpoint
The focus of this role is to lead our youth work, developing our 11-18 strategy as we aim to grow the Kingdom among young people in our community and church family.
We are looking for an engaging, energetic, passionate, creative, pastoral, self-motivated leader who has a heart to see young people transformed by Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and equipped to serve him in growing the Kingdom. We seek a leader with the energy and experience to build upon the existing youth work as well as grow the ministry and bring about new initiatives.
Holy Trinity is a parish church which serves the vibrant community of Hurstpierpoint, a village nestling just north of the South Downs. Within our parish we have a 3-form entry CofE primary school where we already have strong links, and just over 2 miles away there is the Downlands Community secondary school in neighbouring Hassocks, and Hurst College an independent school for 5-18. Holy Trinity has 2 distinctive Sunday morning congregations, a 9.15am Holy Communion of central churchmanship, and a lively, informal charismatic evangelical 11am service established autumn 2022 which has grown massively attracting a large number of families and young people. We currently have an established range of Sunday morning children’s groups and a youth group at the 11am service.
This is an exciting moment to join our team and church family as we seek to reach out more extensively to families and young people in our community. You will be responsible for leading our youth work, nurturing our team of volunteers and planning and developing ministries to assist in the work. This is a role with scope to expand significantly, with the working hours (25-30 hours per week) to be determined with the successful applicant. The work will include some daytime, evening and weekend hours, with at least one full day off each week. Hurstpierpoint PCC will enrol the successful candidate in the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) pension scheme. There will be a 5% employee contribution, and the PCC will make an employer’s contribution of 3%.
If you would like to know more and have an informal conversation with our Rector, Richard Coldicott, please do contact him on 01273 967 598 or email him at rector.holytrinityhpp@gmail.com. There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a committed Christian in accordance with Part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, pre-employment references and a probationary period of 6 months.
